This sermon is taken from Mt.9./the setting was a crowd of religious scholars in a house meeting. A paralytic was let down through the roof. Lu. 5:17 “and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” Jesus said to the man, “Be of good cheer.” In the Greek this means: resolve in your own self- purpose what you want and be bold in the face of circumstances. Be courageous– resolve in keeping your purpose in the faith of God. What are you standing on ? Stand courageously and boldly on the Word of God, do not waver with reason. May your heart say, ” Let it be according to Your Word,” and He will answer, “Let it be according to your faith!” When we renew our minds with the Word, the confessions of our mouth will be what we believe and the meditations of our heart will be acceptable to Him.
Jesus was our example in life and ministry. He only moved two ways, either by the manifestations of the Spirit or by the pull of faith. We need to build ourselves up in the Holy Ghost (Jude 20) and renew our minds in the Word as what work we are to be doing (Luke 4:18) and walk as the will of God in action with the duamis power of God confirming the Word. We need to say (talk) what God says and do what His Word says do (walk)…talk the walk and walk the talk! The religious folk in that house were not happy with Jesus and accused Him of blasephemy. James 1: 21,22: receive the Word which is able to save your souls and be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer only, deceiving your own selves. The “saving of your soul” does not refer to your spiritual destination but speaks to walking in the spirit 24/7 showing the manifest presence of power of God because He lives in you by the Spirit.
