Faith is Based on God’s Promises – Radio #16

This sermon reminds us that in 2 Corinthians 1:20 the promises of God are “Yes and Amen!”  They are acceptable and true.  However, each one of us must receive them by faith and appropriate them personally.  There are two kinds of hope, a natural hope and a spiritual hope.  We have been taught that God sometimes says, “Yes, No, or Wait a while (maybe)?”  But this is not true.   God’s Word gives us a spiritual hope, the promises of God’s Word bring hope when we have no hope.

We learned about Abraham in Romans chapter 14 and his struggle for 24 years.  God said to him, “After this manner, so shall your seed be.”  What manner?  The manner of faith.  God’s true people are people of faith who will stand on the promises of God and believe contrary to all circumstances!  God told Abraham, “Through your seed Christ shall come.”  Abraham’s natural hope turned to spiritual hope when he based it on God’s promise to him.  God’s promise began to rise up in his heart and produced an unshakeable faith.  God’s Word can bring hope to your circumstances!

When we truly believe God’s Word and its promise to us we will stop asking and start thanking!   Hebrews 6:13  God swore…like a handshake.  God said He could swear by none greater than Himself.  It is just like it used to be when your word was equal to your worth.  God says in effect, “If My Word is no good, than I am no good!”  Do we dare stand in His face and tell Him He is not big enough to keep His Word…or do we thank Him that He is moving on our behalf?  It takes a season, faith takes time to grow.

God wants to show us that He is the one constant in your life.
